Common questions:
Our memberships are currently full, but we do have a waitlist—and we’d love to welcome you when space opens up!
👉 Memberships are for ages 18+ and are $100/month. This includes access to our studio, tools, glazes, and kiln firings (within reasonable limits) once you're trained and onboarded into our systems.
To join the waitlist, you'll need to successfully complete a class with us first.
Even if you're an experienced ceramicist, this step is still required—because every studio is different, and we have specific processes, firing schedules, and safety protocols that we expect all members to follow.

❓ Can I bring in outside clay or finished pieces to be fired?
We get it—but the answer is no. We do not fire any clay—bisqued, glazed, or otherwise—that comes from outside our studio.
Why? Because unknown clay bodies can behave unpredictably in the kiln, which puts everyone’s work and the kiln itself at risk.
⚠️ It can melt or warp
⚠️ It may damage shelves and other pieces
⚠️ It could even cause significant harm to the kiln
We appreciate your understanding as we keep our shared creative space safe and reliable for everyone.
Want to take a class or join the waitlist? Send us a message or stop by—we’d love to chat clay with you!

Kiln Firing 101
Waiting for your work to be fired? Here's how it works at MOB Studios:
We fire a minimum of two times per month—but only when the kiln is full. If you're wondering when your piece will be fired, it's on the list—we promise! But we do need to wait until we can load it properly.
So, why not just fire it half-full?
🔸 Kilns are built to be fired when full—a full load helps distribute heat evenly. Firing a partially full kiln can cause:
  • Uneven temperature zones
  • Warped pieces
  • Glaze defects like blistering or crawling
🔸 It's also super hard on the kiln and uses a ton of extra energy. So it’s not just about efficiency—it’s about protecting your work and our shared studio tools.
Want to help speed things up?
There isn’t a ton you can do other than be patient while we fill the kiln—but here are a few things that do help:
✅ Be extra careful cleaning the bottoms of your pots.
✅ Leave at least ¼ inch of space from the bottom—NO glaze on the base or foot.
✅ And absolutely NO glaze pooling in the bottom of your piece.
Following these tips ensures your piece is kiln-ready and helps us load more efficiently.
Thanks for your patience and for being part of our amazing creative community! Questions? We’re happy to chat kiln talk anytime.
